Founded in 1985 following the First International Symposium on Vineyard and Wine Law held in Suze-la-Rousse, France, the Association Internationale des Juristes du Droit de la Vigne et du Vin (AIDV, or the International Wine Law Association, as it is known in English) has its registered office in Paris, France (Statutes).

The Association's objectives are to:

·         review and analyse legal issues affecting the international wine community and commerce;

·         provide a forum in which wine lawyers, regulators, academics and business people can discuss issues of common concern;

·         lend its support to the national and international organisations involved in the vine and wine sector and notably to the O.I.V. (Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin or International Organisation of Vine and Wine, in English) as to the means of harmonising international wine regulations; and

·         serve as a clearing house for legal documentation concerning the wine industry of the world.
